We place great emphasis on prophylaxis. Regular dental cleanings and dental examinations are essential for long-term dental health and early detection. Stains (e.g. from coffee, tea, nicotine or red wine), plaque, and deeper hard deposits (dental calculus) can be removed by our dental hygienists. For this purpose, we use Airflow® (powder jet technology) and ultrasonic technology. The teeth are then polished and fluoridated to prevent caries, protect the tooth, and strengthen the enamel.
Professional dental cleaning not only makes your teeth look better, it reduces both the risk of caries and periodontitis. Bad breath is significantly reduced. Through regular dental examinations, diseased teeth can be detected and treated at an early stage. This prevents time-consuming and usually costly treatments. In addition, we will be happy to advise you on optimal dental care at home and give you easy-to-implement tips on nutrition.
Advantages of professional dental cleaning
Our dental cleanings are performed by dental hygienists. Our dental hygienist successfully completed 3 years of studies at the dental hygiene school. The difference between a dental hygienist and a prophylaxis assistant is that a dental hygienist is also allowed to clean below the gums.
For a dental cleaning with our dental hygienist, one should plan one hour of time.
Without x-rays, the average cost is about CHF 185.
Two small x-rays for caries diagnosis cost an additional CHF 42.
In our dental hygiene session we take care of your teeth and gums.
Regular dental hygiene means prophylaxis. You do something good for yourself and your teeth.
Examination
The session begins with a brief examination of the teeth and gums.
Alignment
Topics and questions are discussed that are individually important for you, your teeth and gums, and information is provided about the further procedure.
Treatment
If necessary, we clean your teeth with our airflow unit, remove plaque and calculus with ultrasound and hand instruments, and finally polish your teeth. Individual treatment requests (only hand instruments, etc.) are of course taken into account.
Dental Control
A dental check-up and caries diagnostic X-rays should additionally be performed every other year.
Mrs. Heinsalo has been working in her profession for over 30 years now. She is very sensitive, gentle and cleans skillfully. In addition, she treats with the latest technology, working with our EMS Airflow Master and our ultrasonic device. But she also masters manual cleaning with instruments perfectly and adapts to the needs of our patients and their teeth.

Getting professional dental cleaning during pregnancy is not only possible, but also recommended. Since hormonal changes can make the gums very sensitive, oral hygiene should be particularly thorough. This includes a professional dental hygiene session. This should best be carried out during the 2nd trimester.
Since even the best at-home oral hygiene does not clean the tooth below the gum, a dental hygiene session is definitely useful and highly recommended. Also from a preventive point of view, as any lesions can be detected and treated at an earlier stage.
It may be that the gums are somewhat irritated after a dental hygiene session - this is especially the case if there was a lot of tartar/concretions underneath the gums that had to be removed. This is the purpose of dental hygiene. However, this sensation disappears after 1-2 days and a fresh, clean feeling remains.
Health insurance companies generally do not cover the costs of dental cleaning. If you have supplementary dental insurance, costs may be covered depending on the scope. You should clarify this with your insurance company.
